Start the new year with a focus on eating healthy

Nutritionists say that eating fresh fruits and vegetables can help one live longer and thrive. The Seal Beach Lions Club wants to help with that. On the fourth Thursday of each month, the club will be selling 12 pound boxes of seasonal fruits and vegetables for $10. Customers report they receive up to a 50% discount compared to local grocery store prices.
All Leisure World residents, regardless of income are eligible. The Lions Club’s goal is to support healthy eating and good nutrition for all Leisure World residents.
The January distribution is scheduled for today, Jan. 23, at the Clubhouse 6 parking lot, 10 a.m.-noon. Get there early and receive a recipe for “Live To Be 100” soup. Residents should bring their GRF card and $10 cash.
Residents are encouraged to support their homebound neighbors by picking up a box for them by presenting the neighbor’s GRF card and paying the $10.
Supplies are limited, so plan to come early.
