Wa-Rite stays commited to healthy diet and lifestyle
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet likeminded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:15 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.
On Jan. 3, 20 members of the club along with two new members kicked off the year with a motivational quote: “If I change nothing, then nothing will change. Let’s try to make healthy changes in the new year.” Members shared nutritional ideas and healthy places to eat out. All made a commitment to making better food choices and maintaining healthy lifestyles.
Kathleen Hessley was the week’s biggest loser with a 1.5-pound loss. She credits her success to eating fresh, organic foods, protein and vegetables. Hessley consumes at least 80 grams of protein per day, as recommended by her doctor, to preserve muscle mass along with the exercise.
Ellen Larsen was named a degreed member of the month by maintaining her weight within the required limit. Larsen said that her family visited during the holidays and ate all the food that was tempting her, which helped her to stay on track.
Shirley LaBrecque was named a queen of the month with a 3-pound weight loss. She credits her success to paying more attention to her nutrition after being sick during the holidays.
