American Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary extends gratitude to the community for its generous donations and support this past year. The local veterans and their families also extended their appreciation.

The Auxiliary supported Christmas parties for the veterans and their families at Joint Forces and the Navy Base with toys for the children. Gift cards for gas and clothing were provided for families of Strong Children/Strong Children along with food for the VA pantry for the homeless.

The annual Auxiliary’s Fashion Show will be held on March 8 in Clubhouse 2. Doors open at 11. A lunch will be provided by Love at First Bite. Proceeds go to the nursing Scholarship fund for Veterans. Tickets are $45 and may be purchased from Jean Sudbeck at 562-594-0209.

Poppy making has now moved to Clubhouse 3, Room 7, and will be held every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon. The Auxiliary needs more volunteers. People do not need to be a member to participate. Call Phyllis Pierce at 562-362-0437 for information.

President Carolyn van Aalst will open the next general meeting on Monday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. On the agenda will be the initiation ceremony for new members. There is still time to join the Auxiliary before this meeting. Call Dianne Hart at 714-955-2885. Visitors are always welcome The Auxiliary expresses its condolences for the loss of the 39th President of the United States of America, President Jimmy Carter.
