Genealogy Club

The Genealogy Club’s newest officers are Linda Bewley and Teri Charlesworth, co-presidents; Cynthia MacFarland, vice president; Ann Dean, secretary; and Janet Lessin, treasurer.

The Genealogy Library will be closed from Dec. 23-Jan. 1 for the holidays and will reopen Jan. 2. Those willing to volunteer at the library or act as a substitute should contact the club’s volunteer coordinator at 714-390-4213 or lisnhow@gmail.com. Back-up volunteers for the Genealogy Library are desparately needed.

The club’s general monthly meetings are held in Clubhouse 3, Room 1.

The club holds Theme Thursdays each week from 1:30-2 p.m. in the Genealogy Library. These short learning sessions focus on a variety of topics and discussions. Upcoming themes include:

• Dec. 12: Special Project—Someone dropped off a nice photo album with obituary information about the person to whom it belonged. All are welcome to join members as they attempt to build a family tree for this person and try to find descendants who might want this book.

• Dec. 19: A Guided Interview Through One’s Personal and Family History—All are welcome to learn how to write memories to pass on to your family.

The club is open to theme suggestions. Those interested in leading a discussion or giving a presentation are encouraged to reach out.
