LW Men’s Golf League

A beautiful but cool morning greeted Leisure World Men’s Golf League players at the par-71 Meadowlark Golf Course on Nov. 15.

Scores were average across the board with just one round under net par. Fewest putts for the round was Clay Fischer. There was just one birdie.

All scores below are net (gross score minus handicap).

A flight winners: Fischer, 6 under 65, first place; Chris Lankford and Jim Goltra, second; Fujio Norihiro, third; Sam Choi, fourth.

On Nov. 18, eight players battled the par-62 David L. Baker Executive Golf Course in Fountain Valley. The weather was sunny but quite cool, but the course was very wet from overnight watering.

Tees were set forward allowing the league’s big hitters to nearly drive several greens. The shorter course gave every golfer a chance to shoot low, and they did. Seven of the eight golfers shot a net under par round including some very low scores. In addition, there were six birdies. Jim Goltra and Duke Park had fewest putts in their respective flights.

Holiday Notice

The LW Men’s Golf Club will hold its annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 7 in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby. Tickets are on sale at all tournaments for $15. The meal will be ham with the . xings and Korean food supplied by several of the club’s members. (gross score minus handicap).

A flight winners: Fujio Norihiro, 10 under 52, first place; Sam Choi, 5 under 57, second; Chris Lankford, 4 under 58, third; Clay Fischer, 3 under 59, fourth; followed by Goltra and Larry Hillhouse.

B flight winners: Bob Munn,10 under 52, first place; Park, 5 under 57, second.

The Monday and Friday golf leagues play at four local courses, all within 15-20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.
