American Latino Club

The American Latino Club will meet on Monday, Dec. 2, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. This meeting will be held earlier than the club’s usual second Thursday of the month meeting.

The country of the month will be Cuba, and lunch will be provided from Porto’s Bakery & Café in Buena Park. Ropa Vieja, translated to old clothes, is considered the national dish of Cuba. The club will learn about this beautiful country through an informative video and discussion.

Members can choose between three lunch choices: pan con lechon (slow roasted pork sandwich), slow roasted pork, mojo (Cuban garlic sauce) with pickled red onion on Cuban bread; ropa vieja sandwich (Cuban-style stewed beef) Cuban style stewed beef with bell pepper, onion, olive, tomato sauce and Spanish seasonings on Cuban bread; or grilled chicken sandwich-grilled and marinated, chicken breast, with mozzarella cheese, tomato, red onion, lettuce, giardiniera (pickled vegetables), roasted garlic aioli, sesame chili sauce on a French round.

The cost for the lunch for members is $17 and $19 for guests. People must pay Treasurer Myriam Klotz no later than Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 3 p.m. Payments must be sent to Klotz either by U.S. mail or by dropping it off in her mailbox at 13940 Thunderbird Dr., 6-G. No late orders will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to the American Latino Club.

Members will be contacted by email or phone. Members and guests can bring their own lunch and pay $5 that includes beverages but must let Klotz know by calling 714-746-9626.

Linda Herman will entertain the club with her talents on her high-tech accordion from 1-2 p.m. She will play easy listening multicultural/holiday music.
