The GRF Board voted Oct. 22 to reduce operating hours at the North and St. Andrews gates to cut costs ahead of passing a 2025 budget that is expected to include a hefty increase in assessments.
The increase is largely due to unprecedented insurance increases and comes despite a months-long effort to cut costs in every department by GRF staff and board members.
Upon the recommendation of the Operations Committee, the board voted to approve the closure of the North and South gates at 8 p.m. Gates will open at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends. The Main Gate is open 24 hours a day.
A recent analysis found that gate traffic sharply declined after 7 p.m. with only an average of 5-10 vehicles entering the gates after 9 p.m.
This will result in a savings of about $56,300 annually due to decreased staffing to keep gates open longer.
