LWers win at Cypress Art League show

Leisure World residents Alice Sioson and Joan Boryta won awards at the Cypress Art League’s Annual Art Show held Sept. 15, at the Cypress Community Center. Collectively, the Leisure World artists won three awards from a field of 199 art entries. The art show attracted artists from all over Southern California and many visual arts were represented.

In addition to ribbons, the winners also received cash awards and gifts from sponsors. Joan Boryta’s watercolor painting titled “Stillness in the Refuge” won third place and her oil/acrylic painting titled “Summer Blessings” won second place. Alice Sioson’s 3D (fused glass) entry titled “Empress” won honorable mention.
