Tournament Poker Club tournament is Sept. 21

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play with the Tournament Poker Club on Sept. 21. Regular tournaments are the first three Saturdays of every month in the lobby of Clubhouse 6 with registration beginning at 10 a.m., along with treats and coffee. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

The club had a great turnout for the Sept. 7 tournament. The high hand winners were Frank DePalma (A-A-A-A-J) and Larry Slutsky (9-9-9-9-10). By playing and winning the promo hand of 2-10, Martha Destra won a prize. As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Steve Edrich, first place; Wendy Wu, second; Robert Stefun, third; Roger Montero, fourth; Dick Jones, fifth; and Eric Holdaway, sixth.

About 43 players started the game and play continued until the final table where Edrich and Wu were heads up. For the last hand, Wu went all in before the flop with K-4, she was called by Edrich with K-K. The flop came 6-10-10 which gave Edrich two pair. The turn was a J, and the river card was a 2, no help for Wu, giving Edrich the winning hand.

Edrich has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the poker club for three years. This was one of several final table wins at regular tournament for Edrich.
