Pastor’s Message
Joseph, imprisoned for a false crime, found favor with the chief jailor. He is in confinement with two officials from Pharoh’s court who have lost favor. The two officials have dreams they do not understand. God gives Joseph the gift to interpret dreams that eventually propels Joseph right into Pharoah’s court, and into the second position of authority in all of Egypt. In Genesis 40:14, Joseph offers to interpret the dreams on condition the surviving official “will remember him when it goes well with you and mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this jail.” The interpretation result, one official would die in three days, and one would be restored to his position in the court.
On Pharoh’s birthday, the dreams come true just as Joseph described. But verse 23 says, “The chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.” God did not forget Joseph, or his plans for his chosen people.
Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God will use believers in the same way, regardless of the circumstances.
Joseph always put God above all others, even in the threat of death, but was protected and was used mightily by God.
