First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Joseph, falsely accused and framed by Potiphar’s wife, was judged by Potiphar. Genesis 39:20 says, “Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined.”

Throughout scripture, a picture of the future messiah is seen in many heroes of the Bible. Christ was rejected by his own, falsely accused, unjustly tried, convicted, and was crucified despite breaking no laws. Joseph could have been sentenced to death just as Christ was, but as verse 21 says, “the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” Mercy was shown to Joseph by God. The mercy afforded Joseph resulted in him being used by God in a mighty way, as he, even in prison was given a position of authority.

Was there mercy shown in Christ’s death? Ephesians 2:4 reads, “But God being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our sins, made us alive together with Christ.”

All those who through faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection receive mercy from God and pass from death to life to sit in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
