Letters to the Editor
Editor:
The Democratic Party used to be the party of peace. John Kennedy signed an order in October 1963 for all military personnel in Vietnam to return home. He was assassinated 30 days later. Robert Kennedy’s father Robert Sr. in 1968 was running to end our involvement in Vietnam, and he was also assassinated.
That all changed when the Democratic Party started taking corporate donations, donations from the military industrial complex.
Now the Democratic Party is the party of war. In 2014 the Democratic administration backed a coup in Ukraine with leadership antagonistic to Russia and the ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine.
These ethnic Russians rebelled and were attacked. This resulted in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This led to war and billions of U.S. dollars going to fund that war. Your tax dollars and mine are paying the price. Let’s just hope that none of our men or women have to die over there. How close are we to a nuclear war? I don’t know, but I do know I do not want to be anywhere close. One of the first targets would be the harbors of New York, San Francisco, San Diego and our very own Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbor. Who do our enemies want to be president? Putin wants Harris. The president of Iran wants Harris. China and North Korea? I think you know the answer. Trump is not afraid to go toe to toe, eye to eye, and mouth to mouth with anybody. He has the courage. Look at his response when he was shot and almost killed. “Fight, fight, fight.” I just do not see Kamala Harris with that kind of courage— the courage needed to keep us safe and enjoying the beauty and climate we so appreciate.

Kamala’s had a really, really bad week. At a “pro abortion” rally in Wisconsin, two Christian student protestors shouted “Christ is King,” to which Ms. Harris replied, “Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally.” This is on top of the snub to Catholics in not attending the Al Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner. The last Democrat candidate to not attend was Walter Mondale, who proceeded to lose 49 states to Ronald Reagan.
I made a mistake in my last letter. I incorrectly stated that 63% of Americans believed the country was on the wrong track. This number is 79%.
In further corrections, the FBI adjusted the “violent crime statistics” showing a significant increase in violent crime during the Biden/Harris term. CBS moderator Bill Weir owes Donald Trump a correction to his “fact check” and an apology. Coincidentally, the increase in violent crime was reported in predominantly Democrat-run cities, many who are either “sanctuary cities” (New York, Aurora, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles) or who have “defunded the police” or have Soros-elected DA’s like Gascon in Los Angeles.
In lighter news, Donald Trump has now worked at Mc-Donald’s 15 minutes longer than Kamala Harris. Make America great, secure, healthy again!
Earick Ward Mutual 7 Editor: I was absolutely fascinated by Sherry Thomas’ accounts in the Oct. 24 edition of her overlanding trips by truck in Africa. Please, Ms. Thomas, write more about these adventures for those of us who are too old and/ or lack the courage for such adventures. Better yet, how about some live lectures? I would sit in the front row!

Given the rancorous nature of this year’s election, the popup vote center Oct. 27 should have been placed as close as possible to the east wall surrounding the Clubhouse 6 parking lot. Then the center would have been less than 100 feet from the parking spaces across the street. The Election Code prohibits political signage within 100 feet of a polling place ( ELEC 18370).
Everyone had already decided how they are going to vote.
Instead of a wall of signage placed on parked vehicles, residents will get to use those parking spaces for swimming or golfing in future elections. This partisan gamesmanship needs to stop.
