Poker tournament will be Nov. 2
TOURNAMENT POKER CLUB
There will be no Tournament Poker Club tournament on Oct. 19, due to the Fall Festival. The next tournament will be Saturday, Nov. 2, in the lobby of Clubhouse 6. Registration begins at 10 a.m., along with treats and coffee. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating. Buy-in for the fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em is $5.
The club had a great turn out for the tournament on Oct. 5. The high hand winners were: Guta Basner (6-6-6-6) and Marvin Rolnick (A-A-A-8-8). By playing and winning the promo hand of 8-3, Joe Guglielmo won a prize. As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Brent Covington, first place; Joe Guglielmo, second; Wendy Wu, third; Jeff Rolnick, fourth; Tony Canfora, fifth. About 36 players started the game and play continued until the final table where Guglielmo and Covington were head’s up. Play continued and the lead went back and forth for some time. In the last hand, Guglielmo went all in before the flop with A-Q. He was called by Covington, who was in the lead with 7-7. The flop came 5-2-J with no change for either player. The turn was a 3, and the river card was a K. Even with a big starting hand for Guglielmo, Covington’s pair of 7s was the winning hand.
Covington has lived in Leisure World for seven years and has been a member of the poker club for two years. This was his fifth final table win at regular tournament. Covington is also a weight lifter, computer programmer and plays golf.
