Assembly of God
Biblical hope is more than wishing something will happen. People hope the weather will be good for their vacation plans, their investments will make a profit, or maybe that their gardens will yield bountiful flowers this year. Yet they have little to no assurance that these things will happen.“Biblical hope,” based on Romans 4:18-25, is exemplified by Abraham, who had a promise from God, and no power in himself to bring about the promised results. When God’s promise and his power become linked with faith, the impossible takes place. The message of this sermon can change one’s perspective from victim to victor.
The Wednesday Bible study will look at session 4 in the “Thriving in Babylon” series. This study looks at the example of Daniel as he is physically pressed into service in a hostile government. He is threatened and pressured to bow to their idols and deny his faith. Preparing one’s spirit for inevitable trials is key to overcoming them. This week’s lesson shows Daniel’s humility, a surprising tool to use to thrive in tough times.
