With the new fall season well underway, many shuffleboard players want to practice more than anticipated. Because the refurbished courts react differently than before, extra practice seems advisable. Therefore, beginning Oct. 7, for the month of October, the Courts Building will open on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-noon. Monday and Wednesday open play will continue from 9-11 a.m.

The general membership business meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at Clubhouse 1 from 9:45-11 a.m. The primary agenda items will be to hear responses regarding the start of league play and to announce dates for future fall special events. All club members are invited to attend.

Sept. 26 winners: Team Karen ran wild over Team Chandra winning eight games out of 12. Team Karen had three all-game winners: veteran player Sal LaScala along with new players Micki Aiello and Rosie Grogan.

Team Jack, after a bye for the first week’s competition, walloped Team Rod, winning 11 of the 12 games. Team Jack set a record by having six players who were all-game winners: Elizabeth Martinez, Jack O’Brien, Sandy Derouin, Linda Peters, and new players Sue Rotter and Lynn Baidack.

Sept. 22 winners: Team Sally zoomed past Team Milly winning eight of the 12 games. Team Sally had three all-game winners: Dan Habel, Sally Fowler and Jack O’Brien, who was substituting for an absent player. Team Milly had one all-game winner: Dennis Kotecki.

Team Rod leapt past Team Kay/Shel, also winning eight of 12 games. Team Rod had three all-game winners: Doris Morton, Roger Bennett and Rod Osgood. Team Kay/Shel had one all-game winner: Sue Burkschab, also a substitute for an absent player.

Sept. 29 winners: Team Shel and Team Carol split the 12 games with each team winning six and losing six. Team Shel had one allgame winner—Chandra Patel—while Team Carol also had one —Harshad Patel. The Patel’s are tough competitors at every turn.

Team Rod slipped past Team Sally, winning seven of the 12 games. Team Rod had three all-game winners: Dolores Cook, Doris Morton and Roger Bennett, while Team Sally had one—Bob Ponegalek.
