Community Church
Father’s Day began as an idea when Sonora Smart Dodd heard a sermon on Mother’s Day, which was just being established in 1909. Community Church will celebrate the amazing men in the congregation on Father’s Day after the Sunday worship service on June 18. A special “manly-themed” lunch will be served to all who attend.
The Scriptures this week are instructions to the followers of Jesus to do hard things, challenging things: things that require bravery—things that some peoples’ fathers might have taught them to do if they had a loving and present father.
There are those who were loving fathers to their children and helped them to learn that they can do hard things, and there are mothers who had to step into the role of father out of necessity. Whatever the story and whatever the relationship with someone has with their father, today and every day forward they can choose to do anything that requires bravery.
People are welcome to join the service on Sunday, June 11, at 9:50 a.m. in person or online on Zoom and on Facebook @CommunityChurchLeisureWorld.
People can contact the church office to receive the Zoom link. The in-person service is followed by food and fellowship.
