Pastor’s Message
Many years had passed since God made a covenant with Abram that he would make him a great nation, and a great name. Abram spoke to God and said, “Look, you have given me no offspring, except the servant born in my house as my heir!” God directed Abram to go outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them. So shall your descendants be.”
Genesis 15:6 shows Abram’s reaction to the word of the Lord, “And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” Because Abram believed the Lord, he was seen as righteous before God.
It is the same today. In Romans 3:21-23 the apostle Paul wrote, “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” It is through faith in Jesus that people is seen as righteous in the eyes of God and results in become a member of the nation that was promised to Abram.
