Guys and Gals Golf Tournament
The last Guys and Gals Tournament was played in January due to weather issues over the past three months. On April 19, the tournament was played again under sunny skies and warm temperatures. Teams of various skilled golfers of one man and one woman vied for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus two circle holes (shots within a 5-foot radius are rewarded), and two closest to the pin challenges. The Turtle Lake Golf Course is a 1,658-yard 18 hole-par 54 course that tests all who play.
All the players are asked to repair their divots and ball marks. A total of 32 teams (64 players) teed off and played 18 holes. The fairways were in great shape after significant resolution of the numerous wet and muddy spots issue. The greens, unfortunately, had been aerated recently, plus the excessive weed patches on every green made putting a major issue for all the players.
There were eight circle hole winners and 42 birdies. The lowest gross score was recorded by Mike Mayfield and Allison Kim at one under 53. Four teams tied for lowest net scores of nine under 45. Twenty-seven teams had net scores at or under par, plus 21 teams were under 50 net. Closest to the pin on the eighth hole were James Farr and Mary Ann More; on the 17th hole: Glenn Barry and Margie Thompson.

The next two guys and gals tournaments are on May 17 and 31. The men’s tournament is played every second and fourth Wednes day of each month. Those who were scheduled to play but cannot make it, can contact Alan Sewell at 541-324-8558 or Dave LaCascia at 801-674-5975 as soon as possible. People should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time and be ready to play.
