Internationally recognized watercolorist Fealing Lin will treat the Art League to a demonstration of her talents on Tuesday, April 12, in Clubhouse 4. The monthly meeting starts at 7 p.m., followed by Lin’s presentation. Members and guests should arrive early to secure seats for what promises to be a lively event.
Born in Taiwan, Lin was a protégé of renowned professor Ching-Jung Chen before moving to the United States to pursue her career with watercolorist and senior art history professor Verna Wells.
Although briefly diverted from her passion by her family tradition of medicine and dentistry, Lin abandoned her tray of instruments and highspeed drills in favor of pallet and brushes. She combines impressionistic strokes and semiabstract techniques to elicit life and movement in her portraits and landscape watercolors.
Lin has won countless awards in exhibitions across the U.S. and abroad. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West and Missouri Watercolor Society. Her work has appeared in magazines and books including “Watercolor Magic,” “Artists Sketch Magazine,” “Best Watercolor’’ and “Splash.” She is now a demonstrator, judge and active exhibitor and has taught watercolor workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Refreshments and art supplies will be available.
For the monthly meeting, members are invited to submit artwork for display by 6:30 p.m. The popular choice theme is “Animals.” In addition to other awards, one of Lin’s pieces will be the raffle prize.

Their creations were viewed by several hundred residents and guests who attended. The next Spotlight on the Artist is tentatively scheduled for July and will feature 3D specialist Allyn Constant. More details will be announced closer to the event.
