Meet the carriers
Eagle Rock Express employs 23 carriers who are responsible for delivering 7,000 papers each week. The majority of them are LW residents.
Siriporn Higgins Route: Mutual 8, 348 papers per week, carrier for 13 years “When I started, the job seemed straightforward and boring. Thirteen years later, I am still walking, a little slower but happier [...] It can be boring, but only until we encounter and help corral a runaway scooter, recover loose parts from a wheelchair and run after the owner, return found money on the front lawn, or alert a resident that their key was left in the front door.”
Kathy Elliott Route: Mutual 1, 337 papers weekly, carrier for over 10 years “I live in the Mutual I deliver the papers to. That makes it better because I’m not just a paper delivery person, I’m a neighbor. It’s a fun job. In the afternoon or early evening, people will invite me in for dinner. I’ve learned to keep a knife and fork in my cart.
