Art League Class
The LW Art League will start a new art class, titled “Zentangle Patterns,” beginning Monday, July 15, and every Monday thereafter. The class will be held in the Art Room of Clubhouse 4 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Tom Taylor will be the instructor. There is no fee for the class, and it is open to all LW residents regardless of skill level. Basic supplies needed for this form of art are graphite pencil, paper, and fine pen and tortillon.
Zentangle is a method of creating intricate patterns and designs through a series of structured patterns called “tangles.” Each tangle is created with a combination of dots, lines, curves and orbs. The method is typically done on small square pieces of paper called “tiles,” which makes the practice manageable and portable. Zentangle encourages relaxation and mindfulness, making it a popular method for stress relief and creative expression. The process of creating a Zentangle is a form of “artistic meditation” as one becomes completely engrossed in making each pattern, deliberately focusing on one stroke at a time. The creativity options and pattern combinations are boundless, and anyone can do it.
The Zentangle method increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. It is enjoyed all over the world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages.
