Sonora Smart Dodd was the first to bring up the notion of a day to honor dads because she wanted to honor her dad, who had raised her and her five brothers after their mother had died during childbirth.

Faith Christian Assembly will honor fathers this Sunday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. Guest speaker Pastor Gwyn Vaughn, an experienced father himself, will share a special message for the dads at the service. There will also be a gift for every gentleman present.

Residents are invited to attend the weekly Wednesday Bible Study at 11 a.m., where Pastor Sheri Leming digs deeper into the Bible.

The men’s and women’s ministries meet on the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. The next meeting will be held June 20.

Faith Christian Assembly is located on the corner of Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive, just outside Leisure World.
