Schwartz taught at CSULB for more than 20 years. After retiring in 2010, he was enlisted by the Fullbright Specialist Program to teach American history at foreign universities. In 2011 Scwartz taught at Panasastra University in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and in 2014 at Jiaotung University in Shanghai, China.
Since 2015 he has been presenting lecture series independently and has a large and avid following. His lectures are fascinating and wide-ranging, to say the least, covering such varied topics as the history of Russia, the history of race in America, Winston Churchill, unheralded women in American history, and the history of baseball.
Schwartz obtained his PhD in history from New York University, his master’s in History from Indiana University, and his bachelor’s from City College of New York.
All residents and guests are welcome to attend the meeting. For more information, call Pat Kruger at 562-357-4040.
