Donation alternatives to Salvation Saturday events during oa months

Residents have enjoyed the convenience of monthly Salvation Army donation events since September of last year. The donation events, now organized by the Golden Age Foundation, will be held every other month, with the next events scheduled for the second Saturdays of June, August and December.
During off months, Leisure World residents still have a varity of easy, convenient ways to dispose of unwanted household items.
They include: 1. City of Seal Beach Dump Day on May 10: The city has partnered with Republic Services, Goodwill and the Orange County Conservation Crops to hold a dump day on Saturday, May 10, from 8-11 a.m. at the Public Works Yard located at 1776 Adolfo Lopez Drive, Seal Beach, CA 90740.
Residents can drop off bulky household waste at no cost. Staff will be onsite to collect household items that are too bulky for residential garbage bins such as mattresses, furniture, and toys. Salvageable items will be kept out of the landfill and donated to Goodwill. Donations of new and gently used clothing, household items, etc. can also be given directly to Goodwill at the event. The city will not accept hazardous materials like batteries and paints, or materials like concrete, dirt, rocks, brick, asphalt, sand, treated wood or tires. For more information, call 562-431-2527, ext. 1336.
