At the April 8 meeting of the Leisure World Art League, President Susie Ralston formally announced the League is now accepting submissions of artwork for its June 22 Art in Bloom Exhibition. Leisure World visual artists are invited to submit painting, digital art, drawing, ceramics, fabric arts, glass, jewelry, lapidary, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood artwork for consideration. Applications are available at the Recreation Office in Building C, or as a digital PDF by via email request at lwsb.artleague@gmail.com.

Aspiring to become the most prestigious formal exhibition of Leisure World’s finest visual artists, the exhibit will feature an alfresco experience of fine art, live music and hors d’oeuvres in Veterans Plaza on June 22 from 4-7 p.m. Gasper Monteer Realty Group will sponsor the free event.

Featured in the Exhibition will be selected artworks from Los Alamitos Unified School District art students, and the winning student’s design from the LW Art League logo design competition. Proceeds from Gasper Monteer’s sponsorship, artist entrance fees, donations for hors d’oeuvres, and other donations at the event will provide scholarships for featured LAUSD art students. The Art League’s May 6 meeting will feature watercolorist Joe Cibere, known worldwide for his “abstract realism” paintings.Cibere will demonstrate his dynamic painting techniques and judge artwork displayed by League members.

Winning artworks are submitted to be judged in the intermediate, advanced, masters or 3D/craft. Winning artwork receives first, second or third place ribbons, and are considered for the popular vote and best of show awards. Those intersted in submitting art should bring works to Clubhouse 4 by 5:30 p.m. to be considered.
