CalFresh Sign-Up Event April 17

Eligible LWers can sign up to receive free money to purchase food on Thursday, April 17, from 8-11 a.m., in Clubhouse 3, Room 4. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, allows those who qualify to receive monthly benefits on an EBT card. It works like a debit card and can be used to purchase food and prepared meals from participating grocery stores and restaurants.

To qualify for CalFresh, LW residents must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, over the age of 60, with the monthly income of no more than $2,510 for a one-person household. People do not need to have Medi-Cal or Medi-Care to be eligible. To apply, bring the photo ID, Social Security number, proof of income, resident ID card and proof of expenses or bank statements. Those living with disabilities can also apply and maintain their benefits. Households with an elderly or disabled member can use their gross income minus applicable deductions to determine eligibility.
