Wa-Rite members focus on progress over perfection for weight loss

WA-RITE
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown.
Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:15 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.
On March 21, members learned that the club lost a total of 7 pounds. Maureen Baker and Mary Kay Sherman tied for the biggest loser title with 1-pound loss each. Baker credits her weight loss to walking around the El Dorado Nature Center quarter-mile pathway four times, which is equal to a mile, a few times a week. Sherman said she ate less, cut out sweets at night and favored sharing a meal with someone so she would only eat half a portion. Henrietta Peavy spoke about a magazine article that was of interest to all about a 300-pound woman who lost significant amount of weight by walking. She lost 100 pounds in the first six months and walked her way up from 4,000 to 10,000 steps a day. She also followed intermittent fasting and limited her daily calories and lost 17 pounds in the first month.
The weekly food for thought was: “I choose to focus on progress over perfection.”
