Volunteer dealers celebrated

TOURNAMENT POKER CLUB
The Tournament Poker Club, like most clubs in Leisure World, runs on volunteer power. With membership of about 100 people, having people willing to help with club events is essential. Most members help when they see a need: for cleanup, chairs brought in, trash disposed of, etc. But beyond that much appreciated type of help, there is one group of members who show up every tournament day to volunteer not to just deal the cards but to oversee a table, making sure that the rules are followed, that new players get help, and that play goes smoothly. The club would not be able to have Saturday games without their help.
To show appreciation to the dealers, a special tournament was held on March 22 just for them. There was a breakfast and tournament that was challenging but fun for all. The players and how they placed include: Barry Brideau, first place; Wendy Wu, second; Jon Jones, third; Tom Pappas, fourth; Tony Canfora, fifth; Donna Hernandez, sixth; Guta Basner, seventh; Marvin Rolnick, eighth; Debbie Barner, ninth; Harry Sera, tenth; Namil Shi, eleventh; Kurt Bourhene, twelfth. The club offers a big thanks to all of the dealers, including Glenn Evenson, who was not able to attend.
Members are encouraged to personally thank their dealers at the tournament on Saturday, April 5. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee/ treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.
