National Park Week April 19-27 features free admission on April 19

NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

This year’s National Park Week will be held April 19-27. The park service is offering free admission to its parks and monuments on Saturday, April 19, for a savings of $50 or more.

There are more than 400 national parks of different shapes, sizes and kinds to experience. Also discover what the National Park Service does to preserve natural and cultural heritage and provide recreational opportunities in communities across the country—and even the world.

There are four more days in 2025 that have free admittance to visit California national parks, national monuments, and other federal lands: In addition to April 19, those dates include: Thursday, June 19, Juneteenth National Independence Day; Monday, Aug. 4, Great American Outdoors Day; Saturday, Sept. 27, National Public Lands Day; and Tuesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day.

Entrance fees have gone up substantially in recent years.

It costs $35 for a one-day vehicle pass for Yosemite National Park, and $30 for Lassen Volcanic National Park, so taking advantage of these free-entrance days can save money.

For U.S. citizens or permanent residents ages 62 years or older, there are special entrance pass options. The America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Series offers a lifetime and annual Senior Pass option. U.S. citizens 62 years or older are eligible for the Senior Lifetime Pass, which costs $80. The Senior Annual Pass is valid for one year and costs $20.
