The Seniors For Peace Club will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, in Clubhouse 4 for a conversation between Dr. Rich Haesly, associate professor of political science at CSULB, and Club President Jeff Mulqueen titled “American Fascism at Home and Abroad.”

Haesly and Mulqueen will explore, among other issues, what fascism is and its current manifestations here and abroad; how it divides society into “us” and “them” and promotes antidemocratic attitudes; and how best to fight and resist it. The audience will be invited to join in the conversation.

Haesly has been at CSULB since 2001, where he was a lecturer for one year and was subsequently hired for a tenure-track position starting in 2002. He is currently working on a research project which investigates American national identities, with a particular emphasis on how these identities influence individuals’ policy preferences.

Seniors For Peace invites all residents to join the peaceful protest in front of the LW globe on Saturday, April 5, from 3-4:30 p.m. in support of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
