Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station Executive Officer Cmdr. Jamie French will give a presenation to LWers on Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. in Clubhouse 4, sponsored by the City of Seal Beach and the Golden Age Foundation.

The purpose of the program is to learn about the work that is conducted at the Naval Weapons Station and how important it is for the nation’s security, and for LWers to show respect for their military neighbor. French will present information about the station’s history and current operations. Community partners, including the Orange County Veterans Service Office, will be on site to provide information about veteran resources.

The Naval Weapons Station is a United States Navy weapons and munition loading, storage and maintenance facility located next door to Leisure World. It occupies 5,256 acres and has 128 ammunition depots.

Cmdr. French grew up in Los Alamitos and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in quantitative economics from the United States Naval Academy in 2003, and a master of science degree in systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2013.

She entered aviation training and received her aviation warfare “Wings of Gold” in September 2005. Her awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Metal and Navy Achievement Metal.
