Wa-Rite

Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:15 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.
At the March 7 meeting, members learned that the club lost a total of 8 pounds for the week. There was a tie for the bigges loser between Judy Chambers and Shirlene Bradrick, who lost 1.5 pounds each. Chambers said she stayed on track by watching what she ate and snacking on popcorn. Bradrick said she gave up sweets and pretzels for Lent, but indulged in rice cakes with peanut butter.
March 7 was also a business meeting. The club lost a total of 53 pounds for the month and Lisa Brass was named the queen of the month with 7-pound loss. The graduate members who stayed within 3 pounds below their goal were Kathy Moran, Shirlene Bradrick and Melinda Lee. Moranhas been consistent with her workouts. Bradrick has been walking for 45 minutes 2-3 times a week, and Lee said that Hulu dancing helps her stay in shape.
The three members who lost the most weight were: Lisa Brass, 7 pounds; Karen Green, 6 pounds; and Ellen Larsen, 4 pounds. The members who attended every week with no gain were: Maureen Baker, Karen Green and Pat Miller. Joyce Brannon, the queen of the month in October and January, was interviewed by President Judy Chambers. The club learned that Brannon is an avid reader and a member of a book group, loves movies, scrapbooking and all of her grandchildren, and has a sister who is only 11 months apart in age. The weekly food for thought was: “Like spring, I’m blooming into my best self (or at least trying).”
