After an intense and challenging special election for the open State Senate seat, the America First Republican Club will celebrate the victory of Tony Strickland who received more than the required 50% plus 1 vote with 51.3%. Members believe the club's volunteer efforts were an integral part of his victory.

After the election, the club removed all yard signs and thanked the folks who allowed the signs to be placed in their garden areas. The club will actively monitor Strickland's efforts to make a difference in a state legislature within a liberal, Democrat super majority.

Club members and shareholders are encouraged to either run for their Mutual director or their Mutual's GRF Board representative. If unable or unwilling to run, heartily support those who share the same values and concerns. These upcoming Leisure World elections are truly a political process where voting results clearly impact residents’ daily lives and pocket books, ie. HOA fees, amenities and infrastructure.

For 2025, the America First Republican Club's educational goal is learning more about the U.S. Constitution and the critical foundation it provides the country. At January's meeting, the club’s own Paul “Pinky” Kartinen, gave his initial presentation on his book “Re-Constituting the United States Government.” The March 19 meeting delved deeper into the contents of the book and its lessons. During the meeting club members also discussed the signage displayed at the club booth and upcoming events.

The club's mission is to educate, engage and activate members in their duty as citizens and shareholders. It focuses on national, state, county, city, Leisure World issues and elections. As a club member said, “It's easy to spend someone else's money, but it shouldn't be.” That is why members are encouraged to get out of their own comfort zones and participate based upon abilities and leanings. All residents who share the club’s concerns and values are encouraged to attend one of the club meetings.
