$15 dues give access to Ancestry.com and more


GENEALOGY CLUB
All residents of Leisure World are invited to the March 26 Leisure World Genealogy Club general membership meeting in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, at 10 a.m.. Social time starts at 9:30. Ron Gilmore will be give a hybrid presentation titled “Murder and Consequence: A Family Story.” Gilmore has a strong technical background, with a degree in electrical engineering and a master’s in mathematics. He pursued a career as a management consultant in IT with major assignments in Canada, the USA and Europe. Retiring in 2010, he and his wife, Wendy, bought a golf community home in Sun City Shadow Hills in Indio, California.
With generous amounts of available spare time, he turned to genealogy for family investigations in Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Canada. Gilmore has presented to several genealogical societies in California and Canada, including regional groups like the Sun City Shadow Hills Genealogy Club, the Moreno Valley Genealogy Society and the Hemet-San Jacinto Genealogy Society.
This month is the deadline to pay for 2025 club dues. Membership is $15, which gives members access to the club’s extensive Genealogy Library, plus computer access to paid subscriptions to Ancestry.com, Fold3, and Newspapers.com.
The email list will be updated at the end of March and those who have not renewed will no longer receive communications. People can pay in person in the Genealogy Library or mail their payment to Treasurer Janet Lessis at 1351 Weeburn Rd 74-J, Seal Beach 90740.
Mailed payments should include the individual’s name, address, phone and email. Make checks payable to LWGW.
