Traveling Tigers

The Traveling Tigers will meet on Wednesday, March 19, at noon in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. The meeting will begin with a potluck. Members and guests who would like to participate should bring a coffee cup and a dish to share. A short business meeting will commence at 1 p.m. followed by a presentation by Debra Hall and Keith Brown on their month-long trip along the French Riviera from Barcelona to Genoa.
The two will share about their experience enjoying espresso in the Piazza de Ferrari, Genoa; a coastal cruise down the Italian Riviera to famous Portofino; the extraordinary Egyptian collection in the Museo Egizio in Turin (the best outside of Cairo); and a leisurely drive to Saint-Tropez for a week of Pampelonne beach play. Then, off to the annual Gypsy Festival in Saintes-Maries-dela- Mer, with its grand procession throughout the town culminating in the statue of Saint Sarah (the patron saint of all Romany people) delivered to her annual bath in the ocean. The two then visited traditional pilgrimage spots in the south of France: Rennes-les-Bains, Chapelle Saint-Salvayre, Rennes-le-Château and its Église Saintes Marie-Madeleine and Le Jardin De Marie; the hike from Forêt de la Sainte-Baume up to the Grotte Sanctuaire de la Sainte-Baume dedicated to Mary Madeleine, where it is said that she lived. They then headed to the Abadia de Montserrat for a night, with the after-hours choir in the cathedral. The two finished off the trip near Barcelona: a delightful beach in Sitges.
The presentation will be followed by a short conversation regarding the club’s October California Coastal Cruise.
