The Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station (NWS) will host an open house on Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. in Clubhouse 4, sponsored by the Golden Age Foundation.

The idea for this program is two-fold. First, to learn about the work they do at NWS and how important it is for the nation’s security and for LWers to show respect for their military neighbor.

Council Member and Mutual 7 resident Nathan Steele had the privilege to take a guided tour of the base lead by Base Commander Jessica Obrien and NWS Information Officer Gregg Smith. They walked through all the main functions of the base from weapon storage to missile rehabilitation. They also toured the dock where the munitions are removed from the ships and then reloaded. There’s a lot of work going on at NWS. All of which is vital to the nation’s defense.
