GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION
The Golden Age Foundation’s (GAF) free income tax service, where an IRS-certified volunteer will prepare and file tax returns for full-year California residents, is now open. It is held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon in The Knowledge and Learning Center in Clubhouse 3.
Appointments are required. Residents can call 562-596-1987 and leave their name and phone number, and a volunteer will return the call to schedule the appointment.
People must fill out the intake/interview sheet prior to the appointment, which can be picked up at the LW Library and completed prior to the appointment.
Assemble the following documents to bring to the appointment, if applicable:
• Social Security card or Form 1099-SSA for everyone on the return.
• Government-issued or Leisure World ID for everyone on the return.
• 1099 forms for interest, dividends, social security benefits, pensions and IRA Distributions.
• 1099-B form and the cost of stocks and bonds that were sold in 2024.
• W-2 form.
• 1095-A form if medical coverage was purchased through Covered California.
• For itemized deductions, prepare and total a list of medical expenses, charitable contributions, taxes, mortgage interest, and other deductions (the total should exceed $14,600 if Single or $29,200 if Married Filing Joint).
• Copy of a check for those who want a refund to be deposited directly in a bank account.
• Copy of 2024 federal and state returns. Individuals with rental property or a net loss from selfemployment are considered out-of-scope for this program.
