Photo Arts Club

At the Jan. 14 meeting of the Art League, several arts clubs, including the Photo Arts Club, participated by showing their creations. Ramayana Baba, the new vice president of the Art League, outlined his vision for continued collaboration between the clubs.
At the Art League’s Feb. 11 meeting, Ziggy Romano demonstrated to the artists how to better photograph their works. Photo Arts Club members participated by providing 18 photos for exhibit, which received many compliments. Those interested in participating can bring matted photos to the Art League meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. Set-up should occur before the meeting starts. The next meeting is March 11.
At present the Art League is considering an exhibit and fundraiser involving all art-related clubs on Sunday, June 15, which is Father’s Day. All entries will be juried, participants can sell their creations and there will be music. Anyone interested in participating should plan to attend the next Art League Board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. in the ceramics room in Clubhouse 4.
On Feb. 13, Ben Benjamins emphasized that focus is important in photographs. Something in the photo must be very sharp. Lighting is the key to producing a good photograph. It can be from the sun or from artificial light, but must enhance the elements in the photograph. Photographers should be aware of how the sunlight varies during different times of the day and how that light can be used to create dimensions. He was very pleased with the creativity shown in the photographs that were submitted.
The Photo Arts Club will meet Thursday, March 13, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. People should bring their iPhone/Android and/ or camera, and photos of their choice to be displayed and to be commented on. The photo assignment is the color yellow. Each person should email their best three photos to Ziggy Romano at siegfried.romano@gmail.com by March 10.
