The America First Republican Club met on Feb. 19 to enjoy a potluck dinner over discussion of multiple topics.

The club threw its support around Tony Strickland for the State Senate Special Election. Strickland’s campaign manager attended the meeting to discuss the status of the campaign, and voter turnout.

The America First Republican Booth will open in front of Clubhouse 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, Monday, Feb. 24, and Election Day, Tuesday, Feb. 25. Those who did not receive a ballot or need a replacement can stop by the booth on Friday or Monday and a club member will provide a replacement ballot. Those who need help marking their ballot or would like a ride to the fire station outside the North Gate to vote in person, can also stop by the booth for help.

The club’s education topic for this year is the U.S. Constitution. It is vitally important for every citizen to know what the Constitution says, what it requires, what it limits and of course, how it is being used or ignored now.

The club will ordering pocket-sized copies of the Constitution for all active members. The education initiative will begin with a review of the book “Re-Constituting the United States Government” written by club member Paul “Pinky” Kartinen. His book discusses why it’s important to know what the Constitution actually says, and how the country has ignored it.
