Sunshine Club


GRF Security Services Director Victor Rocha will speak to the Sunshine Club on Friday, Jan. 10, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m. Rocha will talk about the Security Department’s regular operations during the meeting.
He will open his discussion with questions regarding any aspect of Security.
Rocha has over 30 years of law enforcement, security, and safety experience. Rocha worked as a police officer and detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. In addition, he has provided security assessments for businesses, schools, and HOAs throughout the United States.
Rocha is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from California State University, Fullerton.
The Sunshine Club held its first class on Jan. 12, 2012, and is now in its 13th year.
The club had 51 meetings in 2024, including three meetings without speakers. The club is proud to share that over the course of the year, 2,829 residents attended its meetings to learn 48 different subjects. An average of 55 people attended each meeting.
The club frequently invited guest speakers from Leisure World to learn more about the community.
In 2024, the club invited nine guest speakers from within the community, and the rest of the speakers were from the surrounding area. These people gave presentations with information about retirement living and planning.
The Sunshine Club meets every Friday in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. There are no membership dues; everyone is welcome to join. For more information, text 562-301-5339.
