Community Church

Community Church presents Quartet Aido, who will perform the music of Franz Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, at Community Church. Tickets are $20, seniors and students are $15. Refreshments will be served afterward.

If the ticket price is a challenge, call the church office at 562431-2503 for a sponsored ticket. Likewise, those who want to buy a ticket for someone else should also call the church office.

Community Church regularly has first-time worshippers, so those who could use a little joy this week are encouraged to come see what the friendly church is all about.

This Sunday, Jan. 12, Community Church will celebrate the Baptism of Jesus by looking at the Gospel of Luke and the story of Jesus being baptized in the Jordan River.

People can still be baptized in the Jordan today. The first thing people do when they get out of the water is wash off with hot soapy water as the water in the Jordan is not the cleanest water. The church will look at how the baptism of the Lord and the opportunity for believers own baptism or remembrance of their baptism can inform their lives and the lives of those around the Jordan River today.

Community Church meets for worship held on Sundays at 9:50 a.m., followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshment. Come early for a cup of coffee in the narthex. Community Church is located inside Leisure World at 14000 Church Place.
