Once again, the Salvation Army donation trucks will be stationed at the Community Gardens on Jan.11 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. to accept Leisure World donations in support of its adult rehabilitation centers in Southern California.

The GRF is sponsoring the event in an effort to provide a convenient outlet for shareholders to divest themselves of excess furniture and household goods to reduce clutter while also reducing the cost of trash removal paid for by the monthly assessment.

Donation bags are available clubhouses 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 and the LW Weekly office. People are welcome to pick up bags and fill them with donations. Acceptable items include small- to medium-sized furniture, household goods, home decor, kitchenware, books, toys, sporting goods, small appliances and clothing of all types. Donated items should be clean, undamaged and in saleable condition. The Salvation Army cannot pick up donation at people’s units. Residents must bring them to the truck in the Community Gardens on Jan. 11. Enter from Oak Hills and Northwood and drivers will be directed to the trucks. Garden parking access will be severely restricted during this event.

“Lets get a jump on our New Years Resolutions to clear up our lives and give generously to the Salvation Army on Salvation Saturday,” said GRF Director Mike Banfield, who is helping organize the collection effort. For more information, email him at Mbanfield@lwsb.com.
