WA-RITE

Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by.

At the Dec. 6 meeting, members learned that the club lost a total of 12 pounds that week. Pat Miller was a top loser with a 3.5-pound loss. The members who maintained their weight were Judy Chambers with 5-pound loss, Velma Sarna with 3.5-pound loss and Shirley LaBrecque with 3-pound loss. The club also had its annual Funny Money auction. The members brought in clothes, appliances and other items they bid on with pretend money earned based on attendance and the amount of weight lost during the year. Santa’s Elves helped deliver the items to the winning bidders and collected the money.

On Dec. 20, the club will have its last regular meeting of the year. There will be no meeting Dec. 27. After the New Year, Wa-Rite will resume its meetings beginning Jan. 3.

The weekly food for thought was: “It takes many small victories to win the big war with your weight.”
