Clubhouse 4 will be the site of GRF’s annual toy drive dance on Saturday, Dec. 14. Doors open at 6 p.m., with live entertainment by the Legends of Rock starting at 7. All residents and their guests are invited. Entrance is free, but each attendee must bring a new, unwrapped toy (no stuffed animals).

The GRF is thrilled to support the Brown Descents Car Club Association again this year. They collected toys for over 300 kids at last year’s event and are hoping to top that this year.

The club is a 501(c)3 charity that collects toys every year for local youth and provides scholarships to disadvantaged teens. The group took inspiration from the car clubs that have been a local tradition hailing back to the ‘70s, which acted as a way for minority communities to socialize. Their events have offered the same sense of community for more than eight years.

The Legends of Rock performs the best rock hits from the ‘50s-‘80s. Led by Mutual 17 resident Jon Pearlstone, the group performs at the LW Pickleball Club’s monthly hump day dances and always fills the house.

The festivities will include complimentary cookies and hot beverages. Santa and his elves will collect the toys for the kids.

Those who can’t attend the dance can also drop off unwrapped toys at the Main Gate, North Gate, St. Andrews Gate, the Security Satellite Office in Building 5 in the boxes provided, and in the lobbies of Mutual 17.
