Former Cafe site becomes Medicare destination

The GRF has leased space formerly occupied by the Downtown Cafe to Vandervoort Insurance Agency, specializing in Medicare and representing 10 private insurance companies. They are Aetna Medicare, Alignment, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Humana, Providence Medicare Advantage Plans, SCAN, United Healthcare, Wellcare and Wellcare by Healthnet. The agency also handles plan subtypes including HMOs, PPOs, Medicare supplement plans, and stand-alone prescription drug plans.
The office, located on the ground floor of Building 5, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, since that is the last day to enroll in Medicare or change existing plans for Jan. 1, 2025.
All residents are invited to meet Vandervoort, principal/insurance broker, and her daughter Kristin Amaral, broker, for plan reviews in the wake of significant changes beginning in 2025.
Vandervoort has been serving Leisure World with Medicare enrollment for almost five years. She is thrilled to have her agency here to serve this community full time.
