Cheerleader extraordinaire to coach club in 2025
SHUFFLEBOARD CLUB
Afinal reminder that the Shuffleboard Club’s annual holiday potluck party will be Saturday evening, Dec. 14, at 5:30 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Bring 12 quarters to play the club’s favorite board game, “Left, Right Center.”
Rod Osgood, a skilled and long-term member of the club, has graciously agreed to work on enhancing club members skills come January. Every Thursday morning, Osgood has volunteered to help whoever feels they need to make their game a bit better, whether defensively or offensively. When asked what he hopes to accomplish for the members during this special clinic, he ticked off several areas he wanted to concentrate on in addition to input from the participants themselves. These included believing in oneself, learning to focus and keeping the puck in the scoring areas. He added, “This one’s important because if the shot is too long or too short, you don’t score—it’s that simple.” He also emphasized the importance of evaluating the situation on the court, which includes how fast or slow it is from waxing, finding a line on the court that works for you and learning to work the side curves instead of shooting straight down the court. Another important area to continually practice is controlling the speed of the puck. Osgood emphasized that every club member has different challenges and that practice really does make perfect in this game as in any other. This is a golden opportunity for shuffleboarders to up their game for 2025.
Tuesday evening league results for Dec. 3: All four teams split their scores this week. Team Sue played Team Sally, 6-6. Team Harold played Team Roger, also 6-6. The all-game winner for Team Sue was Sue Burkschab and for Team Sally it was Ellie West. Linda Peters was the all-game winner for Team Harold while Team Roger had none. The Friday morning league did not play on Nov. 29 because of the holiday.
