A Leisure World resident is safe and without injury after her car veered off Golden Rain Road and into the flood channel on the morning of Dec. 6. The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. amid heavy fog, with emergency responders quickly arriving at the scene.

According to a security report, the female driver was traveling eastbound on Golden Rain Road when she attempted to make a left turn off El Dorado.

As she maneuvered, she noticed an obstruction in the roadway and attempted to brake, but mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead. The driver lost control of the vehicle, striking the chain link fence and gate before the vehicle careened into the flood channel.

No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. Emergency personnel, including the Seal Beach Police Department, Orange County Fire Authority, and GRF Security, assisted the driver, safely extracting her from the culvert.

A tow truck later removed the vehicle from the channel.
