Advent Gatherings

Advent gatherings will be held Dec. 11 and 18, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The theme this year is “Let There Be Light!” The Advent Gatherings will begin with an hour of inspiration and singing seasonal hymns. Following the first hour, there will be a shared meal beginning at 4 p.m.

Christmas Eve Service

The Christmas Eve service will be held in the sanctuary on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m. All LWers are invited bring friends, neighbors, and family to the service. It will be followed by a brunch in the Fellowship Hall.

A prayer for the second Sunday of Advent for those with a prayer wreath in their home; make sure to light two candles:“We praise you, O God, for this circle of light that marks our days of preparation for Christ’s advent. As we light the candles on this wreath, kindle within us the fire of your Spirit, that we may be light shining in the darkness. Enlighten us with your grace, that we may welcome others as you have welcomed us. Grant this through Christ our Lord, whose coming is certain and whose day draws near. Amen.”

The Gospel lesson this week is from Luke 3:1-6 about Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist. John the Baptist actually prepared the way for Jesus, believers also need to prepare the way for Jesus by preparing themselves, friends, families, neighbors and communities; and not only prepare for Christmas, but also for the second coming of Christ.
