Tournament Poker Club Casino Tournament coming

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can with the Tournament Poker Club on Dec. 7. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month. Regular tournaments start with coffee and treats and registration at 10 a.m. and cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

The club had a great turnout for the last tournament of the month on Nov. 16. A great time was had by all 56 participants, win or lose. High hand winners were Jeffrey Thomas (Q-8 of diamonds straight flush) and Katie Hamilton (A-A-A-J-J). Loc Ton won a prize for winning with the promo hand of 8-3.

As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Bill Clawson, first place; Nancy Floyd, second; Ren Villanueva, third; Joe Guglielmo, fourth; Lee Pfeifer, fifth; Anne Wilkerson, sixth.

Play continued with Clawson and Floyd head’s up. Play went back and forth for a long time. Clawson was in the lead most of the time, but Floyd held her own until the last hand. Holding A-5, Clawson went all in before the flop and was called by Floyd holding Q-10. The flop was A–7–0, giving Clawson the lead with a pair of aces. The turn was a 7 and the river was a K. Neither card helped Floyd’s hand, giving Clawson the win.

Clawson has lived in Leisure World for many years and has been a member of the poker club for most of that time. This was one of many final table wins for Clawson at regular tournament. In addition to tournament poker, Clawson has been known to shoot some pool and work in the woodshop here in Leisure World.

The club congratulates all the winners, including Anne Wilkerson, who went to the final table as a brand new member.
