First Christian Church First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In the book of Genesis Joseph was a dreamer and an interpreter of dreams. He had a supernatural, God-given gift.

Joseph was able to interpret his own dream of a time to come when his siblings and parents would bow down to him.

In a prison in Egypt, Joseph interprets the dreams of fellow prisoners and ultimately one prisoner was freed and returned to his former position for the king and for the other prisoner, whom Joseph had foreseen, was killed.

Moving to Genesis 41, it’s now the Pharaoh himself that has a dream that requires interpretation. Hearing of Joseph’s gift, Joseph was summoned to interpret the dream. In verses 14-16, Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” Joseph answered Pharaoh saying, “It is not in me to interpret; but God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

Joseph told Pharaoh that it was his God that was able to give Pharaoh the answer to his dream, Joseph was just a vessel used by God for his purposes. In this case it was to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. The lesson that should be gleaned from this is God is the gift giver. Joseph and others who are obedient to God’s will are the vessels used by him to fulfill his plans and purposes.
